Guidelines for Subordinate Lodge Balloting

08.08.2016

The following information and guidelines are intended to aid lodges in making sure that the proper procedures are followed regardless of which type of the three ballots may be required. By following these guidelines mistakes can be avoided and time saved during the process. Members must become thoroughly familiar with Chapters 63 and 68 of The Code (contained in the Appendix section of this document). Lodges should conduct periodic training sessions with members to avoid errors during the process. The Appendices also provide a form that can be used by the master in announcing the required information prior to beginning the balloting process. A summary table describing types of votes, subjects, required number of votes and methods of voting is included to assist in making this process easier to understand.
